Can You Tame a Super Turkey in ARK: Survival Evolved?

The Super Turkey is one of the most iconic creatures in ARK Survival Evolved This oversized turkey made its first appearance during the 2015 Turkey Trial event and has returned every year since. But despite its importance, there’s a lot of confusion around whether or not you can actually tame a Super Turkey In this article, I’ll cover everything you need to know about taming these powerful birds in ARK.

An Overview of Super Turkeys

Super Turkeys are only found on ARK maps during the annual Turkey Trial event around Thanksgiving. They spawn in high levels ranging from 1 to 300. Visually, Super Turkeys resemble modern turkeys but are much larger with bright red wattles and feathers.

Despite their appearance Super Turkeys are incredibly powerful creatures with health pools over 100,000 at high levels. They take 90% reduced damage from dino attacks and can kill players and tames with just a couple hits. Fighting Super Turkeys solo is very difficult even at lower levels.

When killed, Super Turkeys have a 100% chance to drop Wishbones which are used to unlock holiday-themed ARK items. You can also use Wishbones to summon the DodoRex boss. Super Turkeys drop raw meat, hide, and XP as well.

Can You Tame Super Turkeys?

The short answer is no, Super Turkeys are not tameable under normal circumstances. There are a few reasons for this:

• Super Turkeys do not have a taming affordance which means there’s no way to feed them to start the taming process. You cannot knock them out or passive tame them.

• Super Turkeys are immune to tranquilizers like Tranq Arrows and Shocking Tranq Darts. So even if you could feed them, you couldn’t knock them unconscious to tame.

• Wildcard has not implemented any official taming or breeding methods for Super Turkeys They exist solely as untameable event creatures

Now there are a couple exceptions to this rule. First, since Super Turkeys share some characteristics with Dodos, there is a glitch that allows you to tame them using the DoTame admin command. But this does not work on all servers and can cause glitches.

Some unofficial player-run ARK servers also enable Super Turkey taming through modding. But on the official maps and most community servers, you cannot tame these giant turkeys through normal gameplay.

Why You Can’t Tame Super Turkeys

There are a few gameplay reasons why Wildcard has not made Super Turkeys tameable:

• They are meant to be challenging holiday boss creatures. Allowing players to tame Super Turkeys would remove that difficulty and defeat their purpose.

• Tamed Super Turkeys would be extremely overpowered. Their damage and health exceeds almost every other creature in the game.

• Limited availability during holidays makes them feel more special. If you could always tame Super Turkeys, it would reduce the excitement around Turkey Trial events.

• Dropping Wishbones on death encourages hunting Super Turkeys, not taming them. Players are meant to kill them for holiday loot.

Tips for Fighting Super Turkeys

Since you cannot tame Super Turkeys, the only option is battling them. Here are some tips for fighting Super Turkeys:

• Use ranged weapons and guns. Melee is ineffective due to their damage resistance. Shotguns and assault rifles work well.

• Dinosaurs also deal reduced damage, but high-level Giganotosaurus can still kill them quickly.

• Wyverns and other creatures with breath attacks bypass the damage resistance.

• Build a stone pillar or platform to shoot from safely. Super Turkeys can’t damage stone.

• Trapping them in a stone pen allows you to kill them safely with guns or dinosaurs.

• Group up with tribemates and take them down quickly before they can dish out damage.

With the right strategy and firepower, a high-level Super Turkey is manageable. Just don’t expect to be able to tame these beasts! Super Turkeys exist solely as challenging bosses during ARK’sTurkey Trial events each year.
