The Ultimate Guide to Getting Turkey Legs at Magic Kingdom in Disney World

Everyone who’s been to Walt Disney World has probably seen them. Giant, meat-on-a-stick, Jumbo Disney Turkey Legs. And while Turkey Legs aren’t our favorite Disney snack (far from it), we know that there are plenty of fans out there! It’s a true park icon that’s been immortalized on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. That’s right! In the Galaxarium portion of the Guardians of the Galaxy queue, you might catch a glimpse of this iconic Disney snack.

In fact, we’ve even seen other SNACKS in the shape of turkey legs! We’re looking at you, Rice Krispie Treats. Turkey legs might just be the most controversial Disney snack out there, and we’ve put together a full guide on all the spots you can find them!

Yes, the Jumbo Turkey Legs are ICONIC. This is the snack that makes you feel like a prehistoric caveman who somehow ended up in a theme park. If you enjoy feeling like you’re from the Mesozoic Era, grab one next time you smell that familiar smoky smell. This is THE snack that can easily feed two people!

Smokey, salty, juicy, and meaty, this snack isn’t just a snack — it’s a meal. You’ll definitely need to do some laps of the park to walk off the 1,000 calories you’ll take in with a turkey leg!

In fact, these are so big that many folks refuse to believe they’re actually from turkeys. Rumors have floated around that these are emu legs! But we’ve been assured that they are, truly, from your favorite Thanksgiving-time gobbler.

You can snag jumbo Turkey Legs at some spots around Disney World. So, if your Disney World trip isn’t complete without a handheld chunk of meat, here’s where you can find them:

Liberty Square Market is one of the best places in Magic Kingdom to get a healthy snack. Be on the lookout, too, for a few theme park staples such as Turkey Legs, Mickey Pretzels, hot dogs, and Frozen Slush drinks!

The infamous Disney World turkey legs have a bit of a cult following, with guests either loving or completely despising this larger-than-life serving of protein.

Prince Eric’s Village Market is located at the base of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in Fantasyland, and it’s a great spot to grab a quick snack at any of time of the day… when it’s open, that is. Prince Eric’s Village Market is sometimes closed during slower seasons, and when it is open, it tends to have more limited operating hours.

That said, when it is open, you can get your big ol’ Turkey Leg right here! At the Village Market, it’s $15.49 and served with chips.

As you can see, Turkey Legs are HUGE. These snacks are easily shareable and could even serve as a meal for someone who’s looking for a salty, meaty, filling eat.

Flavor-wise, our leg was very, VERY smoky and meaty in the same way a fatty piece of bacon is. If you like super salty, meaty flavors, we could see how a Turkey Leg could be a go-to!

Sleepy Hollow in Liberty Square offers a variety of sweet treats and savory snacks served throughout the day. We’re talking about true gems like the Fresh Fruit Waffle (with Nutella!), the Sweet-and-Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich, Hand-dipped Corn Dogs, and MORE… all right within view of Cinderella Castle.

In 2021, this spot began offering turkey legs after 9PM. However, Turkey Legs don’t always pop up at Sleepy Hollow on Mobile Order, so check to see if it’s there during your trip. Since they still appear on Disney’s online menu, we think this is just a reserve location that might offer them on occasion.

The Fife and Drum is basically a permanent kiosk at the “outskirts” of the American Adventure pavilion.

This spot seems is a magnet for Disney food cult favorites as well as select specialty items like the American Dream Slush layered with vanilla soft-serve.

And here, it’s worth noting that you can even use the Disney Dining Plan to acquire your Turkey Leg! That said, even though we refer to Turkey Legs as an iconic SNACK (because they are), Turkey Legs are not Snack Credit eligible on the Disney Dining Plan. However, at Fife & Drum Tavern you can use a Quick Service meal credit to order a Turkey Leg, which you’ll receive with chips! (Out of pocket, a Turkey Leg here is $14.25.)

One final EPCOT note — on occasion, you maaaay find one of the snack carts in World Discovery serving up Turkey Legs.

However, your best bet in EPCOT remains the Fife & Drum Tavern. Yes, Disney’s famous giant turkey legs can also be found here. Take your leg to a nearby bench overlooking the World Showcase Lagoon. If you’re lucky, it’ll be a nice day with a refreshing breeze.

You’ll find The Smokehouse over on the West Side of Disney Springs. It’s the counter-service sister to the table-service House of Blues Restaurant.

Although the seating is outside, you’ll be surrounded by trees and tunes that’ll make up for it.

A slow smoked turkey leg seasoned with House of Blues special spices is on the menu for $14.00.

If you’re a hungry carnivore, you’ll find a ton of meat on this MASSIVE leg. We think this is big enough to share, but if you like the salty flavor that is common with turkey legs, we won’t judge if you keep this all to yourself. Despite the saltiness, it does have a great smoky flavor!

And for good reason! There’s just something so fun and satisfying about chowing down on a hunk of meat bigger than your head while strolling through the Happiest Place on Earth. If you’re headed to Magic Kingdom and want to join in this treasured Disney tradition, here is my ultimate guide on where and how to get turkey legs in the park.

What’s the Deal With Disney Turkey Legs?

Let’s start with the basics. Disney’s jumbo turkey legs have attained an almost mythical, legendary status among Disney fans. These drumsticks are estimated to weigh around 1.5 pounds each – which explains their massive size! Despite rumors that the legs must come from emus or other large birds, Disney has confirmed that they use only turkey. The secret behind their size seems to come down to using older, more mature turkeys.

The legs are prepared very simply, seasoned with just salt and smoke This gives them a pronounced ham-like, smokey flavor rather than tasting like your Thanksgiving turkey Some fans love this strong, salty taste while others feel they are too plain. But no matter your preference, you can’t deny these turkey legs are an iconic Disney World treat!

The History of Turkey Legs at Disney Parks

While it may seem like they have been around forever, turkey legs were not an original menu item when Magic Kingdom opened in 1971. They first appeared in the park during the 1980s at a snack cart in Frontierland. Of course, given the Frontier theme of that land, the rugged, meaty legs were a perfect fit!

It didn’t take long for word to spread and the giant turkey legs became a signature snack. Magic Kingdom continued to expand turkey leg offerings into other lands, and now all Disney theme parks sell their own version. They have become so popular that Disney even sells turkey leg themed merchandise!

Where To Get Turkey Legs in Magic Kingdom

Now let’s get to the good stuff! Here are all the spots in Magic Kingdom that serve up delicious smoked turkey legs for your eating enjoyment

Frontierland Turkey Leg Cart

Of course we have to start in Frontierland, birthplace of the Disney turkey leg! Located across from Diamond Horseshoe Saloon, this snack cart is often simply referred to as the “turkey leg area.” The tantalizing smoked turkey aroma permeates throughout Frontierland, beckoning you to get your own leg.

Turkey legs cost $13.49 here. Lines can get long during peak lunch and dinner times. But the wait is worth it for an authentic turkey leg experience in its original home!

Liberty Square Market

A short walk from Frontierland, Liberty Square Market is another reliable option for turkey legs. You’ll find them served near the Hall of Presidents. Priced at $13.49, this is a quick stop if Frontierland is crowded. Enjoy your leg on a nice bench overlooking the Rivers of America!

Sleepy Hollow

This Liberty Square quick service spot is known for its waffles, but they also offer turkey legs! Beginning at 9pm, you can get a leg here for $15.49. Seating is outdoors but still scenic. Sleepy Hollow doesn’t always list turkey legs as a mobile order option, so check if they have them during your visit.

Gaston’s Tavern

Located just on the edge of Fantasyland, Gaston’s is the place to go if you want more variety than just a plain leg. Turkey legs cost $13.49, but you can also get one of Gaston’s giant cinnamon rolls for the ultimate sweet and savvy pairing!

Prince Eric’s Village Market

You’ll come across this Fantasyland spot right near Ariel’s Grotto. In addition to turkey legs ($15.49), Prince Eric’s Village Market also sells frozen slushies, making it a great option on a hot day!

Tortuga Tavern (limited availability)

Tortuga Tavern in Adventureland sometimes offers turkey legs on its rotating menu. Pricing is around $13.49. It’s near Pirates of the Caribbean, so could be a convenient stop before braving a long wait! But check ahead as legs don’t seem to be a permanent menu fixture here.

Pro Turkey Leg Tips

Now that you know where to get turkey legs in the Magic Kingdom, here are my tips for making the most of your experience:

  • Come hungry! These legs are very filling. Share if you want just a taste.

  • Bring wet wipes and napkins. They can get very messy!

  • Be strategic with timing if you want to avoid long lines. Avoid peak mealtimes.

  • Don’t wait to eat it! The crisp skin is the best part. If you let it sit the skin gets soggy.

  • Prepare for the salt! They are smoked with just salt, so very salty. Get a glass of water.

  • Take your time savoring the flavor. Let the smokey, fatty flavors really come through.

  • Try pairing it with something sweet, like a Mickey ice cream bar! The combo is delightful.

  • Bring an empty reusable water bottle so you can fill up and wash it down as you eat.

  • If the line is crazy long, mobile order from Sleepy Hollow or Prince Eric’s Market instead.

  • Share your leg on social media! Take that iconic Disney trip photo.
