How To Make Lasagna
Preheat the oven to 375°F.
Sauté onions and garlic and brown the meat
The, add olive oil to an extra large skillet. After it has warmed up, add the onions and cook for two to three minutes, or until translucent. Stir in the garlic and cook 1 minute. Add the pork sausage and ground beef. Cook until browned.
If there is a lot of grease in the skillet, drain the meat before adding more ingredients.
Add the tomatoes and spices
Crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, oregano, thyme, crushed red pepper, and 1 teaspoon of salt should all be added to the browned meat. Stir well and let simmer.
Pro tip: Let the sauce simmer for at least an hour for the best flavor. Simply keep it at a low simmer and stir occasionally. If you’re pressed for time, simmer for only 30 minutes.
Blend ricotta cheese and eggs
Combine the ricotta cheese, eggs, and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a medium bowl. Set aside.
Change the ricotta cheese for 15 ounces of cottage cheese, if you like.
Assemble the lasagna
First, fill the bottom of the baking dish with 1 1/2 cups of the meat sauce. Place 4-5 no-bake noodles over the meat sauce. Spread with 1/2 of the ricotta cheese mixture. Top with 1/3 of the mozzarella cheese. Include 1 1/2 additional cups of meat sauce, no-bake noodles, the remaining ricotta, and one-third of the mozzarella cheese. Finish by sprinkling the remaining parmesan cheese, mozzarella, and meat sauce on top.
Cover with tin foil and bake
With a piece of tin foil that has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray, cover the lasagna. Bake for 25 minutes covered. When the cheese is bubbling and beginning to brown, remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes.
Using nonstick cooking spray to coat the tin foil before covering will prevent the cheese from sticking.
Yes, you should cover the baking dish because doing so helps the noodles soften.
Reheat in the oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
Yes, you can freeze individual slices of lasagna; to do so, wrap each slice in tin foil and then parchment paper before putting it in a freezer bag with a Meal Label and putting it in the freezer. Up to three months of lasagna storage in the freezer is possible.
Our go-to side dish to serve with lasagna is a tossed salad with Lemon Vinaigrette Salad Dressing. Steamed vegetables and garlic bread are also great options.
